As the Grist Mill and Gardens Historic Site celebrates its 40th anniversary season, its beloved Summer Concert Series continues to grow—both in scope and reputation.
Set beneath the sprawling horse chestnut trees in the site’s heritage gardens, this concert series blends musical excellence with the unforgettable atmosphere of a summer evening in one of BC’s most charming historic destinations.
In addition to the five artists already announced—including Spirit of the West alum Linda McRae (Jun 13), bluegrass legends John Reischman & the Jaybirds (Aug 9), and Celtic favourites Tiller’s Folly (Aug 22)—the full 2025 series includes:
Linda McRae – June 13
A founding member of Spirit of the West, Linda McRae is a compelling songwriter and storyteller whose voice—gritty and tender—brings her songs of love, loss, and resilience beautifully to life.
Showman & Coole – July 4
Armed with clawhammer banjo, fingerstyle guitar, and sharp wit, this dynamic duo delivers warm harmonies, top-tier musicianship, and a joyful chemistry that’s a joy to watch.
Boxcar Campfire (Paul Pigat) – July 18
The celebrated guitarist behind Cousin Harley shows off his quieter, more reflective side in this rootsy, road-weary solo project.
Barney Bentall – July 19
The legendary Legendary Hearts frontman returns with a solo set full of heartfelt storytelling, rootsy charm, and Canadian classics.
The Grapes of Wrath (Acoustic Duo) – July 24
Founding members Tom Hooper and Kevin Kane perform stripped-down, harmony-rich versions of their iconic Canadian alt-rock songs in an intimate, story-filled set.
Jackson Hollow – August 1

The Paperboys – Aug 30
One of Canada’s most beloved genre-bending bands, The Paperboys blend Celtic, Latin, bluegrass, and pop influences into a danceable, deeply joyful musical celebration.
Tony Furtado – September 12
Banjo master, slide guitarist, and roots-music shapeshifter, Tony Furtado fuses Americana, folk, and blues into soulful, high-energy performances that captivate audiences from the first note.
Clanna Morna – September 19
A high-energy Celtic folk trio from Vancouver Island, known for spotlighting overlooked stories through rebel songs, ballads, and fiddle-fuelled tunes.
All concerts begin at 7:00PM, with guests encouraged to arrive early, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy the scenic gardens and concession offerings. Each show also features an optional handcrafted dinner box using local ingredients, perfect for a picnic-style evening.
